Yearly Projects

We continue to hand out Christmas baskets with food and basic necessities, and some gifts for the children, to our normal families, who we have been supporting since 2007. They too were very grateful and wished blessings upon all of you.
2012, 2013, 2014
Juan Jose – Our teenager. Because of the help he provided with the project this year, we wanted to give Juan Jose a special recognition. When my dad was sick before he died, we had a nurse who helped support us. She had told us that the job helping my dad was a blessing as she had just met a young man named Juan Jose who was in a foster home and was being abused there. He is also deaf and mute. She was able to get him into her care as a result of the job helping my dad. When my dad died, she lost her job and didn’t know how she was going to be able to keep Juan Jose. Since then, we have been helping her with funding to support his costs. As a result of that, Juan Jose has been able to go to a special school and has blossomed into an amazing artist. He has earned himself a scholarship to attend the school and was an instrumental part in our project activity there this year, as you’ll see in the pics and videos. He’s a talented, loving and caring young man, and spending time with him was one of the great joys of the trip. Such an amazing kid and he now has a good chance to live a great life thanks to our help. Likely wouldn’t have happened otherwise…

2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 Assisting FUNDEHI
In late 2012, our organization expanded. Diana's aunt in Colombia, a nun, and her good friend Sandra, got us connected with Sister Beatriz who was running a Soup Kitchen in Cazuca, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Colombia. Her project is amazing! You can learn more about it on their website http://www.fundehi.org or under the FUNDEHI tab. The kitchen provided close to 150 children with their primary, and probably, ONLY meal of the day and she also feeds 40 elders in need on a daily basis. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, Sister Beatriz had to close her kitchen. God intervened and allowed for us to connect with her at the perfect time. We began working with her to develop a plan of action to re-open her soup kitchen for the poor. As part of this plan, we engaged the Word of Abundant Life Christian Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The Word of Abundant Life Christian Center not only provided donations to support the cause, but they also allowed us to achieve a long-time goal of providing your donations with tax deductable status. We are very happy to announce that Sister Beatriz's kitchen has re-opened in February 2013 and we continue to support the soup kitchen on a monthly basis. This is all thanks to your support, contributions, and the amazing support of our partners.

2015 Purple Angels Project
Our most intimate engagement is with some special needs children, or extremely hard cases, involving children in the Chia area. Based on some new individual sponsorships, we have been able to add a number of new children to our monthly group who we help with basic necessities. Please take a few minutes to look at the video. We called this part of the project the "Purple Angels" in honor of our dear Heather Papayoti and Orlando Villarreal (Diana’s father), who are a great inspiration and help us from heaven. We hope you like it!
The woman you see in many of the pics/videos is Rocio Polanco. Rocio has become our right hand in Colombia for the Chia project. After my father passed, most of the Villarreal family moved to the US and Canada and we thought our project was going to end. However, God intervened and we were able to partner with our church Covenant City Church, FUNDEHI, and Rocio and our project has grown tremendously and we have been able to help even more people in need. Rocio has taken on the responsibility to help manage the local activity in Chia. She works with Diana and sister Beatriz on a monthly/weekly basis coordinating the activities and taking pictures. Rocio is a good friend of the family and is helping us in so many ways. Rocio grew up in extreme poverty, so she knows better than anyone what it is to be in need and she helps us find the families that need the most help. She organizes all the Christmas activity, she delivers the groceries to our kids every month, she finds the best bargains on the food and toys, and she is constantly supporting the group we help including holding Bible study sessions with the families. She is an amazing woman and we are truly blessed to have her as a partner in this project.
